President, Quality by Design

Mary Simms has twenty three years of experience in the healthcare field, over fifteen of which have encompassed leadership positions responsible for:

Organizational and system-wide accreditation coordination;

Quality management and performance improvement system and process design and implementation;

Medical staff services and credentialing systems;

Facilitation of organizational process redesign and re-engineering efforts;

Health information management systems and processes; and

Organizational and leadership development program design.

Additionally, Mary Simms has held positions of Vice President of Patient Care Services and liaison for a Peer Review Organization, and is a certified professional of healthcare quality.

QUALITY BY DESIGNS CONSULTING PRACTICE IS DESIGNED TO:

ASSESS organizational needs for effective quality improvement processes and compliance to accreditation standards and regulatory agency requirements.

Mary Simms specializes in accreditation standards compliance and networks with other professional, certified individuals qualified by hands on experience to prepare facilities for accreditation surveys. These survey standards include JCAHO (Hospital, Ambulatory Care, Home Care and Long Term Care); NCQA and integration of these standards with the Malcom Baldridge criteria. Preparation surveys include providing organizational staff with the knowledge and expertise to continue an integrated program that will ensure ongoing compliance to regulatory standards.

DEVELOP customized quality and leadership infrastructures, plans and processes to effectively and efficiently produce data and information for process improvement and successful outcomes.

Mary Simms has developed and/or facilitated the development of infrastructures and processes to assure comprehensive and integrated performance improvement systems. Systems that will produce meaningful and useful data, while reducing resources and processes that are redundant and duplicated elsewhere.

EDUCATE leaders, governing boards, medical staff and front line employees on concepts and principles of total quality management, tools and techniques of quality and performance improvement, and accreditation standards and requirements.

Mary Simms believes that for a comprehensive and integrated approach and program to ongoing compliance to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, all individuals within an organization must understand their role and responsibilities. Education includes valuable and simple tools to meeting accreditation standards.

MANAGE or train others to complete implementation of projects and/or action plans developed.

Mary Simms has facilitated many successful project teams to completion with outstanding results, as well as served in interim positions due to vacancy of quality professionals and departments.
